British actress Joanna Lumley tested her survival skills to the limit while filming on the banks of the river Nile - she was attacked by deadly tsetse flies and bitten by vicious ants.
The former Bond girl travelled to Egypt and trekked the 4,000-mile (6,650-kilometre) long waterway on a camel for a new TV documentary.
But the trip was fraught with danger - she had to fight off attacks from local wildlife and fell violently ill when a bug caused her bodily fluids to "turn black".
Absolutely Fabulous star Lumley says, "There were six of us and on some of the very worst parts of the journey we had a medic travelling with us because we were so far from hospital, so if anything had gone wrong... and go wrong it did!
"I was very smug, going 'I never get ill' - that'll teach me! Whatever it was, overnight everything inside me turned to black water and just began to pour out of me. But we had to go on filming because you can't stop - the schedule is so tight."
Lumley also had to deal with terrifying encounters with insects which attacked her and the crew en masse.
She adds, "There were soldier ants and they just swarmed over us - up into the hair - in a second. They move quicker than a racehorse and they are all over you, biting and making spots of blood. I was tearing my clothes off. And there were tsetse flies. They give you sleeping sickness and then you die, so we were like, 'No! Tsetse flies!'"
