Janie Bryant - Mad Men costume design to host new fashion TV show
Janie Bryant will host a new reality TV competition to find the next big costume designer.
Mad Men's costume designer has landed a fashion TV show.
Janie Bryant will host a new reality programme which challenges aspiring designers to create a garment in the style of an iconic Hollywood film or star.
TV boss James Deutch told Deadline.com: ''We loved the idea of tapping into someone like Bryant, who is great at finding a look and designing costumes for film and TV and seeing how it translates into the real world.
''Janie totally gets how to translate Hollywood to mainstream fashion.''
Janie - whose real name is Katherine Jane Bryant - has been a costume designer for hit HBO show 'Mad Men' since 2007. Her Emmy-nominated creations are credited with bringing 1960s vintage-inspired clothes back into fashion.
The new show is in good hands, since it is being developed by the co-creators of NBC's fashion competition series 'Fashion Star', E.J. Johnston and James Deutch.
The working title is 'Janie Bryant's Hollywood' and it is currently being pitched to several US TV networks.
Janie recently revealed she loves creating the wardrobe for 'Mad Men' every series, and especially enjoys the contrast between the smart office wear of the advertising world and the characters' off-duty clothes.
She said: ''It's always so exciting to get an opportunity to show a different side of 'Mad Men'. It's such a great challenge, to show different cultural aspects of what's happening in the time period.''
