It was a jungle out there in Movieland over the weekend as the animated animals of Madagascar 3 Europe's Most Wanted , created by Dreamworks Animation, pounced on the likes of Tom Cruise and Adam Sandler to take in an estimated $35.5 million in the movie's second weekend at the box office. The figure exceeded analysts' forecasts, while Warner Bros.' Rock of Ages with Cruise and Sony's That's My Boy with Sandler did not, coming in well below them with a disappointing $15 million and $13 million respectively. Those were puny amounts for movies starring the two actors, who are usually regarded as sure bets. (Sandler hasn't seen a film open this low since 1996's Happy Gilmore .) Both of the new films, which finished third and fifth at the box office, were beaten out by the second weekend of Fox's Prometheus , which came in at the low end of expectations with about $20.2 million. In fourth place was Universal's Snow White and the Huntsman , which added around $13.8 million to its domestic gross, which now stands at $170 million.
