Pop superstar Madonna broke the news of Barack Obama's election win to fans at her show in Pennsylvania on Tuesday night (06Nov12) and turned the gig into a victory party.

The incumbent U.S. president won a second term in the White House after a day at the polls, and news of his victory broke while the Material Girl was on stage at the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Madonna started her gig late at around 10.45pm local time, and the show ran into the early hours of Wednesday morning (07Nov12), during which she halted the performance when she was informed of Obama's triumph.

The singer yelled to the audience, "Do you know what just happened?" before leading the crowd in a chant of "F**k yeah!"

When she heard a chorus of boos after revealing the news, she added, "I love you too, but I want a president with a moral compass."

Madonna then did a "happy dance" to celebrate during a rendition of her hit Holiday, before dedicating her song Masterpiece to the president.

On Wednesday (07Nov12), stars continued to send their congratulations and well-wishes to Obama via Twitter.com as news of his election victory sunk in.

Lady Gaga writes, "We just couldn't be happier my goodness, the joy when freedom prevails", Mariah Carey tweets, "Congratulations to our beloved President Barack Obama, our spectacular First Lady Michelle Obama & the adorable Malia & Sasha. We love you!", and Canadian pop star Justin Bieber adds, "A lot of emotions right now. Congrats (sic) President Obama... I'm Canadian. I'm good. Free healthcare."
