LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD star MAGGIE Q insists on covering up her body art in her movies - because the tattoos are too personal to put on the big screen.
The Hawaii-born actress admits she doesn't even like talking about her tattoos - because each one relates to a time in her life she holds dear.
She says, "I like my tattoos erased out because those are mine, they're Maggie's tattoos and I kind of hide them in photo shoots and in movies. They have a lot of deeper meaning.
"When it comes to markings about relationships or things like that, I'm a very private person. Normally I like to leave myself out of it."
But her tattoo of a rising phoenix does appear in her new film Balls of Fury.
She explains, "An artist in China drew that for me because when I was acting in China, they always likened my personality to a bird, so that was my bird - the rising phoenix. It feels totally a part of who I am."
