Martin Mcdonagh easily convinced Tom Waits to join the cast of 'Seven Psychopaths'.

The Irish director - famed for his black comedy 'In Bruges' - said music legend Tom jumped at the chance to star in his satirical action film when he found out he was going to be playing a rabbit-loving serial killer.

Speaking at the Jameson Cult Film Club Seven Psychopaths premiere at London's Oval Space last night (27.11.12) Martin told BANG Showbiz: ''He was convinced to do the part when I told him he'd be able to carry a rabbit. He said, 'I'm in!' as soon as he heard that.

''Tom's a great guy and I've been a fan of his since I was young and it was a joy to work with him. He's someone who's a genius in both of his fields, in acting and in songwriting.''

The raspy-voiced crooner also defied expectations on set by being very humble and shy and the all-star cast - including Christopher Walken, Colin Farrell and Woody Harrelson - loved working with him.

Martin explained: ''I'd actually met him a couple of years before. My impression before that was that he'd been kind of rough and scary, but no he's kind of shy and sweet and just lovely.''

The film tells the story of a struggling screenwriter who becomes inadvertently entangled in the Los Angeles criminal underworld after his friends kidnap a gangster's beloved Shih Tzu, and the real star of the cast was undoubtedly Bonnie the dog.

Martin said: ''The dog was great, Bonnie was the nicest dog! It hit its marks and there were no tantrums!''

Sam added: ''It didn't yap at all, it was really cute.''

Jack Whitehall and Lawson joined Sam and Martin on the green carpet in Bethnal Green.
