British legends Massive Attack and electronica greats Kraftwerk are to headline this year's Bestival, it has been announced.

The Unfinished Sympathy stars will headline the Isle of Wight event on Friday September 11th with Kraftwerk's Saturday set a UK festival exclusive.

The Sunday headliner is yet to be announced, but other actors revealed include MGMT, Klaxons, Fleet Foxes and Seasick Steve.

Each Bestival has a fancy dress theme - last year's was under the sea - and the 2009 event is no exception, with festival founder Rob Da Bank confirming that "this is the Year of the Spectacular at Bestival".

"Artist wise, I keep having to look at the scruffy piece of paper I keep the lineup on in my diary to convince myself that we are indeed bringing Kraftwerk to the Isle of Wight," he told eFestivals.

"Haha! I'm so bloody happy I could cry but then I realise we've also got Massive Attack, MGMT, Seasick Steve, Klaxons, Bat For Lashes, The Beat, SquarePusher... all my favourite live acts and DJs in a field in seven months time in what I can humbly proclaim is our best line-up yet and when you find out who the third headliner is and then the very special guest too you'll join me wetting ourselves with excitement."

Tickets range from £70 for 13- to 15-year-olds to £140 for adults and are on sale now.

The lineup also includes the following:

Michael Nyman
The Future Sound Of London
Little Boots
Friendly Fires
Florence & The Machine
Bjorn Again
Fujiya and Miyagi
Dub Pistols
James Yuill
Free Peace
VV Brown
Chase & Status
Golden Silvers
Goldie Lookin' Chain

More acts are still to be announced.
