Matthew Fox is in talks to join Brad Pitt in 'World War Z'.

The 'Lost' actor has been approached along with Ed Harris and Julia Levy-Boeken to join the 'Megamind' star in the ensemble movie which tells the tale of a man researching a zombie pandemic that took place in the past that led to much of the world's population being killed off.

Brad's production company Plan B secured rights to the book by Max Brooks on which the Marc Foster directed film is based after a bidding war with Leonardo Dicaprio's Appian Way in 2007.

While it is unclear what parts Matthew, Ed and Julia will play, the author of the book has confirmed Brad will play the United Nations worker investigating the crisis.

Paramount is hoping to release the film by summer 2012.

Matthew's first post 'Lost' film role has recently been confirmed as an assassin in 'I, Alex Cross'alongside Tyler Perry and Ed Burns.

He will play the ruthless Michael Sullivan, who kills for money and thrills and is known as the Butcher of Sligo.
