Meat Loaf cried on stage as he performed what could be his last ever concert in London last night (10.04.13).

The 65-year-old rocker paid an emotional tribute to his fans at his 'Last at Bat Tour' show at The O2 arena thanking them for supporting him over the years and for sending his classic album 'Bat Out of Hell' back up the UK chart.

Introducing powerful ballad 'For Crying Out Loud', he said: ''It is 2013 and 'Bat Out of Hell' came in at number nine. It tied its highest position which was March 1978. I have no explanation other than that you love that record with incredible passion. What that means is that this record doesn't belong to me, or Jimmy (songwriter Jim Steinman), it belongs to you ... The flip side was that so many people hated that record with incredible passion.''

As the tears began to flow, he added: ''I just want to say to you thank you, thank you very, very much. I can't say what it means to see all if you here tonight. It's incredible.''

His impassioned speech brought a huge cheer from the audience who were on their feet throughout his set.

The singer put on an incredible show performing a selection of his greatest hits in the first act, including 'Objects in the Rear View Mirror May Appear Closer than They Are', 'Dead Ringer for Love' and 'Los Angeloser'.

In the second act, Meat Loaf played his LP 'Bat Out of Hell' in its entirety and at one point a giant inflatable bat towered above the band at the back of stage.

After walking off, he returned to perform his biggest hit 'I'd Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That)' and 'Boneyard' which at one point morphed into Lynyrd Skynyrd's 'Free Bird'.

Before departing, Meat Loaf and female lead vocalist Patti Russo fired T-shirts into the crowd from penis-shaped launchers covered in condoms.

The 'Last at Bat Tour' is being billed as Meat Loaf's farewell tour and the artist himself has said he won't go on the road again because he doesn't ''want to travel anymore''.

The next stop is at the LG Arena in Birmingham on Friday (12.04.13) and the tour continues across the UK next week before heading to Europe.
