Meek Mill - Meek Mill Cleared Of Violating Probation
Rapper Meek Mill has been cleared of probation violation accusations relating to his 2008 conviction on drug and gun charges.
The Ima Boss hitmaker, real name Robert Williams, is currently serving five years' probation for the prior conviction, but he has allegedly failed to stick to the rules and alert his parole officer, Treas Underwood, to his plans to travel out of his native Philadelphia, Pennsylvania ahead of time.
She claims Mill only gets in touch to update her on his whereabouts after he's already made the journey - but the rapper alleges that's only because he rarely knows where he is required to be until he's already on the move.
During a court hearing on Friday (15Mar13), he told the court, "The problem is that I don't know (my travel schedule). It changes every day."
Mill also revealed his reasons for trying to keep busy on tour, saying: "My best thing is to stay travelling. Every time I come back to Philadelphia, someone tries to shoot me or get me back in trouble."
Common Pleas Court Judge Genece E. Brinkley dismissed Underwood's allegation of probation violation and set a status hearing for 28 June (13).
Mill was previously forced to cancel a planned U.S. tour after he was banned from travelling out of Pennsylvania, having skipped a probation update hearing in November (12).
The order, which was extended for another month in December (12), expired earlier this year (13), allowing Mill to resume promotional duties for his debut album Dreams and Nightmares.
