Former Spice Girl Mel C has ruled out the possibility of the group getting back together permanently.

With a number of bands reforming at the moment, including Take That and The Police, the rumour mill has been speculating that the Spice Girls could be next.

But in an interview with Closer magazine 'Sporty Spice' Mel C said that there are no plans for the girls to get back together.

And with two of the girls Emma Bunton and Mel B - expecting babies and Victoria Beckham moving to Los Angeles with her family, even if a reunion was desirable it could not happen in the near future.

"With the impending babies, family is the priority in Spice World right now," Mel C said.

Spice Girls fans fear not, however, as the girls may be hitting the stage together at some point, as the singer added: "A one-off gig would be ideal, but we Haven't had any offers yet."

The girls rose to fame in the 1990s with hits including Wannabe, Two Become One, Say You'll Be There and Mama. Three albums and a string of top ten hits later, Spice Girls split in 2001.
