Metallica, the American rock band who have sold more than 85 million records worldwide, have announced plans to headline a one-day only metal 'extravaganza' in California this April. The group will come together to play at the Empire Polo Club In Indio, just a week after the venue plays host to the 2011 'Coachella Music Festival'.
On Saturday 23rd April 2011, Slayer, MEGADETH and Anthrax will join METALLICA on the bill for the highly anticipated concert. The bands, known collectively as 'The Big 4', played together in a series of European concerts in 2010 and an official DVD titled 'The Big 4 Live from Sofia, Bulgaria' was released in October. The announcement came as a surprise to some followers of the bands as it has been several years since each outfit have released any new material. SLAYER released their tenth studio album 'World Painted Blood' back in 2009 and MEGADETH released their record 'Endgame' later that year. ANTHRAX, who recently reunited with their singer JOEY BELLADONNA, have an album scheduled to hit shelves this year and METALLICA haven't released any new material since 2008's 'Death Magnetic'.
Tickets for the one-off show are set to go on sale this Friday (28th January 2011) at 10am and are expected to sell-out within minutes.
