Michael Buble thinks Justin Bieber is ''remarkable''.

The 37-year-old singer insists criticism the teenage star has faced over his recent antics - including showing up to gigs over two hours late, smuggling a monkey onto a plane and joking during a visit to holocaust victim Anne Frank's house - is unnecessary as his behaviour humanises the 'Believe' hitmaker.

And despite his controversial conduct, Michael believes Justin, 19, handles himself with ''dignity''.

He said: ''I think, for what Justin Bieber has been through, he is remarkable. He has handled it with dignity.

''I am a fan of the way he handles himself. They should give him a medal for smoking a joint. It made him human - he's just a kid.''

The 'Haven't Met You Yet' vocalist - whose wife Luisana Lopilato is pregnant with their first child - thinks he would have gone off the rails had he found fame much earlier in life.

He told the Daily Star newspaper: ''I'm glad I didn't achieve fame until I was almost 30.

''I had become the man I am, the man I was going to be.

''If it had happened when I was 17, I would have been a p***k.''
