Michael C Hall Didn't Know If He'd Live To 39
Michael C Hall, the star of hit show Dexter, has admitted to not knowing whether he would live to be 39-years-old, which is the age that his father died of cancer. Hall told The New York Times, "I think I've been preoccupied since I was 11 and my father died, with the idea of the age 39: Would I live that long? What would that be like? To discover that I had the Hodgkin's was alarming, but at the same time I felt kind of bemused, like. Wow. Huh. How interesting".
Hall is now 39-years-old, but was only 38 when first diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma. However, the cancer is now in remission and Hall is continuing treatment in the hope of making a full recovery and being given the all clear. As the fifth season of Dexter gets ready to premiere this Sunday (26th September 2010), Hall also spoke about his tendency to play repressed characters and how it may not be a coincidence, saying, "I have my own repressed people in my life that I've drawn on, and had my own tendency toward repression. Maybe it has to do with not knowing quite what to do with the storm of feelings that accompanied my father's death".
Hall has so far won a Golden Glove Award, Satellite Award, and Screen Actors Guild Award for his portrayal of the serial killer 'Dexter Morgan' in the hit US drama series 'Dexter'.
