Michael Douglas has revealed that his cancer has spread, but says he still has around an 80% chance of survival. In an interview on 'The Late Show with David Letterman', Douglas talked frankly about his illness, admitting that it's more advanced than first feared. He told Letterman, "It's a stage four [cancer], which is intense. You want to be at stage one. The big thing you're worried about is it spreading - I am head and neck. It hasn't gone down. The expectations are good". The actor also explained how his throat had been giving him problems for several months before the cancer was diagnosed.
Douglas commented on how the cancer was probably caused by his lifetime of drinking and smoking, and confirmed he is now receiving a course of chemotherapy. The 65-year-old Hollywood legend has had a long and distinguished film career which has included starring roles in Oliver Stone'S 'Wall Street' as well as 'Romancing the Stone', and 'Basic Instinct' - he is set to reprise his role in the former when 'Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps' is officially released on 24st September 2010.
The ACADEMY AWARD winning actor is married to Catherine Zeta-Jones, and the couple have two children.
