MICHAEL GRIMM, the Mississippi blues singer and winner of last night's 'AMERICA'S GOT TALENT' final, says he will buy his grandparents a new home with his $1 million prize. After being declared the winner yesterday (16th September 2010) the 30-year-old told People Magazine, "My grandparents don't have to worry about anything anymore. I can't put into words what that means to me. They've supported me in the music through the years, and they've seen me fall and get back up and keep going. Now I can take care of them"
In a shock conclusion to the hit US show, the blues singer was named the winner, ahead of big favourite and 10-year-old opera phenomenon JACKIE EVANCHO. Grimm admits he thought Evancho had done enough to win the contest, saying, "I really thought Jackie had it in the bag. I was preparing my speech to leave. I couldn't believe I heard my name. I was trying to make sure that what I thought was going on was going on, you know?"
Piers Morgan, a judge on the show, explained Grimm's victory by describing the musician as 'genuine' and 'talented' and comparing him to Van Morrison. Starting on October 1st 2010, fans will get the chance to see Grimm perform live on the 'AMERICA'S GOT TALENT' Live' tour.
