Michael Jackson's personal physician Conrad Murray received no money from the superstar's concert promoters because the King of Pop died before he could sign off on the medic's contract, a court has heard.

The doctor is currently serving time for involuntary manslaughter after he was convicted last year (12) of administering the fatal dose of Propofol which resulted in the Thriller hitmaker's 2009 death, but the conditions of his employment have come under heavy scrutiny as the singer's mother, Katherine Jackson, sues gig bosses at Aeg Live for wrongful death.

She maintains Aeg executives were responsible for hiring unqualified Murray to tend to her son, and therefore should compensate her and the star's three children for Michael's untimely death.

However, Julie Hollander, Aeg Live's vice president and controller of event operations, challenged that notion in a Los Angeles court on Monday (20May13) as she produced the firm's budget report.

During her witness testimony, Hollander revealed that the company had spent $24 million (£15.48 million) on producing the singer's doomed This Is It residency in London, and had budgeted an additional $150,000 (£96,774) a month for Murray's costs - but he was never paid anything as Jackson did not officially sign the legal documents.

Murray had been in line to receive a $1.5 million (£967,742) payday if the contract had been approved.

The case continues.

MJ didn't sign that contract because he wasn't going to be the person who would be paying Murray's salary, so in turn he wasn't the one who hired him, AEG did!!!
