Michael Jackson - Michael Jacksons' Turmoil Over Michael Burial
Michael Jackson's family voted on the best way to organise his burial after failing to agree on plans for the funeral.
The Thriller hitmaker passed away on 25 June, 2009 after suffering a cardiac arrest brought on by an overdose of anaesthetic Propofol.
His family was at odds on where to bury the star, with Jermaine Jackson arguing his sibling should be buried in the grounds of Neverland, his former home in Santa Barbara, California. Jackson's mother Katherine reportedly disagreed, insisting her son never wanted to return to the sprawling estate, which he deserted after his child molestation trial in 2005.
And sister La Toya has now revealed the family never came to a unanimous decision and had to vote on where Michael would be interred.
She tells CNN chat show host Piers Morgan, "I would love to say, 'Yes, we're closer than we've ever been'... but it's really interesting as when a loved one in your family (dies)... Michael was the first we've lost, and it hurts so badly and everybody wants to be on the same page and it's not always that way.
"I think it was very difficult when we came to the plans of what we were going to do with him in the burial - everybody had different opinions and we would have to vote on which way we were going with it.
"You want that togetherness, you want people to come closer - yes, it's closer in a sense but at the same time no it isn't, which is really sad."
Jackson was buried at the Forest Lawn Cemetery memorial in Glendale, California.
