Michael Madsen, the American actor still best known for his turn as Vic Vega aka Mr Blonde in Quentin Tarantino’s ‘Reservoir Dogs’, is convinced the breathalyzer used by police at the scene of his recent drunk-driving arrest was “flawed”.
The 54-year-old – who has a history of legal problems – was pulled over by cops in Malibu, California, on Wednesday afternoon (September 12, 2012) after reportedly being spotted driving erratically on the Pacific Coast Highway. The actor was arrested on suspicion of DUI after a breathalyzer test showed his blood alcohol level to be more than twice the legal limit, though Madsen’s representative Perry Wander denies that his client was drunk. Mr Wander says Madsen wants his fans to know he did not fail the sobriety test and “believes that the breathalyzer test is flawed.” It’s unclear why Madsen believes the breathalyzer was tampered with, though he was booked for a misdemeanour DUI offence and bail was set at $15,000 before he was transported to a local hospital to treat an undisclosed ailment. His car was impounded.
Though his best roles may well be behind him, Madsen could be considered a prolific actor and has no less than nine projects currently completed or in production. He will soon begin work on Robert Rodriguez’s ‘Sin City: A Dame to Kill For’, with Jessica Alba, Mickey Rourke and Rosario Dawson.
