Michelle Yeoh, the former 'Bond Girl' who plays pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi in a forthcoming new movie, has been barred from entering Burma, reports Bbc News. Michelle Yeoh attempted to visit the country on 22nd June 2011 but was deported on the same day.
A Burmese official confirmed Yeoh is now blacklisted from the country and would not be able to return, although no reasons were given for the ban. The actress has visited the country before, meeting with Aung San Suu Kyi in December 2010. The official said, "She did not have the chance to enter Myanmar again. She was deported straight away on the first flight after arriving at Yangon International Airport". Yeoh portrays the heroic Suu Kyi in the forthcoming movie 'The Lady', directed by Luc Besson. The National League for Democracy leader won the Burmese election by a landslide in 1990 but spent the next 15 years under house arrest before finally being released in November 2010.
Michelle Yeoh's previous movie credits include playing a Chinese spy alongside Pierce Brosnan in 'Tomorrow Never Dies' and starring in Ang Lee's acclaimed martial arts movie 'Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon'
