Legendary bandleader GLENN MILLER was murdered by Nazis, according to research Pulitzer Prize nominee HUNTON DOWNS has tracked down for a new book.
Miller disappeared in 1944 when his plane bound for Paris, France vanished over the English Channel. The 40-year-old In The Mood hitmaker was later declared dead when his body wasn't found.
The mystery of Miller's disappearance and death has never been solved, but now Downs, a former U.S. Army colonel, claims the bandleader was tortured and killed by Nazis during the final months of World War Two, according to The Globe.
In his book The Glenn Miller Conspiracy, the writer suggests the hitmaker was captured by the Gestapo while carrying out a secret mission to rescue top German scientists. German-speaking Miller refused to help the Nazis invade U.S. leader Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower's headquarters in Paris and he was killed.
According to Downs, who died in April (10), Miller's body was dumped outside a Paris brothel. In his book, the writer maintains Army officials made up the mysterious disappearance to cover up the secret mission and to give Miller a more distinguished death story.
