Miranda Lambert is dispatching mobile pet rescue units to provide aid to animals injured in the deadly tornado in Oklahoma.

The country music star has already shown her support for the victims of the natural disaster - which killed 24 people when it tore through the town of Moore on Monday (20.05.13) - by performing a duet on 'The Voice' with husband Blake Shelton to raise money for the relief effort.

The 'Over You' singer - who lives in Oklahoma - has asked vets at the MuttNation Foundation, which she launched in 2009, to set-up temporary shelters in the destroyed town to care for animals injured or left homeless by the disaster.

The Grammy award winner has expressed her relief on Twitter at being able to help with the recovery effort after buildings including two schools were completely flattened by the tornado. She wrote: ''I'm so proud that MuttNation can help even a little.''

A number of other stars have also declared their support for the victims including her husband Blake who is arranging a star-studded benefit concert to help people rebuild their neighbourhoods and singer Carrie Underwood who has donated £645,000 to the Red Cross' relief effort.
