The Miss England 2011 final was held at London's Hilton Metropole Hotel on Tuesday (19th July 2011), with ALIZE LILY MOUNTER from Kensington crowned the eventual winner. The new Miss England battled it out with 64 models in a glitzy ceremony watched by an audience of 600, reports the UK's Daily Mail.
Cheered on by family and friends, 22-year-old Alize stormed the competition taking maximum points in all three rounds - sportswear, eveningwear and 'national' costume. Speaking after the result, the model said, "I'm so excited, I can't believe it. I never expected to win". The judges claimed it was almost impossible to choose between the top three girls, with 21-year-old law student Rissikat Bade finishing a close second, and Rebecca Morton from Rugby coming third. Speaking on her Twitter page today, Alize told followers, "Follow your dreams, no matter how far out of reach they may seem. Thankyou to everyones amazing support". Despite the judges' comments, bookmakers had Alize as the strong favourite to triumph, but the model explained, "Even when you're tipped as a favourite, you never allow yourself to think you might win".
Alize will now head to the Miss World ceremony on 6th November 2010, which is taking place in the UK and will be broadcast on terrestrial television.
