Australian music mogul Molly Meldrum has delighted his friends and family by uttering his first words since an accident at his home left him in a coma.
The 65 year old suffered a number of injuries, including a fractured skull, after falling from a ladder while putting up Christmas decorations earlier this month (Dec11). He was placed in an induced coma at a hospital in Melbourne and later underwent surgery to repair a broken collarbone and extensive breaks and fractures to his left ribcage.
Meldrum's manager Mark Klemens has now revealed the music mogul is breathing without the help of a ventilator and has even started speaking again.
He tells the Aap, "Certainly he's not in a position to hold a conversation or anything like that. There are random words (but) they are a great sign. He's a bit sore and a bit uncomfortable but it's all a positive step, and a great Christmas present for the family."
