Rocker Morrissey has been rushed to hospital after collapsing unconscious with breathing problems during a concert in the U.K.
The former Smiths frontman slumped down in front of horrified fans after singing his opening song at a gig in Swindon, south west England on Saturday (24Octo09).
He was reportedly dragged offstage by his bandmembers as medics were called to the venue. He was then taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital and was in a stable condition as WENN went to press.
An emergency services spokesman says, "Just after 9pm we got a call to a 50-year-old man who was reported to be suffering from respiratory problems and was unconscious. We sent a paramedic in a doubled-crewed ambulance. When they arrived they found a conscious patient who was not feeling well at all."
Morrissey cancelled a string of gigs on his world tour earlier this year due to an unspecified illness.
A source close to the singer tells WENN, "He only recently finished touring and has gone straight back out on the road. Morrissey loves performing live but everyone around him is concerned that he might be taking on too much."
