Match of the Day will be shown live on both the internet and TV in a simulcast first from the BBC.

The highlights show will be available on BBC.co.uk at the same time as BBC1 on Saturday nights as well as for the Sunday morning repeat programme.

Match of the Day 2, fronted by Adrian Chiles, will get the same treatment, ending any household rows over contentious TV scheduling.

The usual clutch of pundits will return for the new season, with host Gary Lineker joined by Alan Hansen, Mark Lawrenson, Alan Shearer and Lee Dixon.

The BBC will also be covering England's journey to Euro 2008, with all four home games to be shown on Match of the Day Live.

First up for Steve McClaren's men are Israel in September, the first competitive game for the national team at the new Wembley Stadium.

England's friendly with Germany will also be screened live on August 22nd - the first meeting between the old adversaries since former manager Sven-Goran Eriksson masterminded a 5-1 drubbing in Munich in 2001.

Finally, the ever-surprising Ian Holloway will be providing his unique thoughts on The Game in a continuation of his column for BBC.co.uk.

The Plymouth manager is a regular in the funny quotes section, so his column is sure to be a hit.
