Muddy Reckoning For T In The Park

This year's T In The Park festival has been doing its best to prove that Glastonbury doesn't have a monopoly on vast quagmires of mud.

Last night saw tailbacks stretching back12 miles on the approach to the festival site in Balado, by Kinross, as car parks turned into unusable swamps.

The heavy rain forced organisers to shut car parks at 22:30 BST yesterday and this morning shuttle buses were laid on to transport festival-goers.

T in the Park director Geoff Ellis said: "Yesterday's traffic and parking difficulties were extremely regrettable, however [they were] completely unavoidable due to the very bad weather that we have been experiencing over the last few weeks.

"The festival's fans once again showed why they are considered the best in the world by remaining patient and upbeat throughout the day."

Fortunately the weather gods have been more helpful on the festival's middle day, with the sun coming out to the delight of the 80,000 people enjoying The Music.

Today's headline acts include The Killers, Razorlight, The Kooks, My Chemical Romance and Lostprophets.
