The slowly unwinding scandal involving Rupert Murdoch's British newspapers pressed on today (Tuesday) as the former defense editor of The Sun and a London police detective -- both arrested nearly a year ago -- were officially charged with conspiring to commit misconduct in public office. The formal charge alleged that former constable Paul Flattley received at least =A36,450 (about $10,000) from Sun journalist Virginia Wheeler for information about high profile individuals and those associated with them as well as victims of accidents and crimes. The information provided included information about the tragic death of a 15-year-old girl. The indictment did not name the girl nor disclose what sort of information, beyond that publicly released, was disclosed to Wheeler.
