Nate Dogg To Perform At Coachella 2012, Via Hologram
Nate Dogg, the late American rapper whose death shocked the music industry in 2011, will still perform in front of a packed Coachella crowd this week, in the form of a hologram. Dr Dre is unwilling to let Nate's death keep him away from the festival and will in- cooperate the rapper in his set using the latest broadcast technology, reports TMZ.com.
According to sources, Nate will actually 'perform' several songs with Dre, while his image is projected onto the Coachella stage alongside Snoop Dogg, Kurupt, Warren G and Daz Dillinger. The technology - used to broadcast Mariah Carey to five simultaneous concerts in Europe last year - will make it appear as though Nate is actually moving around on-stage, rather than his image simply being projected onto the big screen. The rapper passed away last March, just weeks before the Coachella festival. He is noted for his membership of the rap trio 213, though he released solo albums 'G-Funk Classics Vol 1 and 2', 'Music and Me', and 'Nate Dogg' in 2008. He died on March 15, 2011 in Long Beach, California from complications of multiple strokes.
This year's Coachella Festival is headlined by the Black Keys, Radiohead and Dr Dre. Others set to perform include the reformed AT THE DRIVE-IN, Arctic Monkeys, Bon Iver, DJ Shadow and BEIRUT.
