The NBCUniversal-owned Fandango online ticket-selling service, in partnership with the company's Spanish-language network Telemundo, has launched a separate ticket service targeting Hispanics. The New York Times said that the Spanish-language Fandango Cine will highlight movies that are likely to resonate with Hispanics. It noted that Hispanics bought 286 million movie tickets in 2011, about a quarter of all movie tickets sold in the U.S.We recognized from the data that there's a unique audience in Hispanics in their affinity for moviegoing and mobile technology, Paul Yanover, president of Fandango, told the Times. That's a pretty important audience segment we thought we could better service.
