Neva Patterson - Neva Patterson Dies Aged 90
Neva Patterson, the American actress best known for her role in the movie 'An Affair to Remember', as well as in the play 'The Seven Year Itch', has died aged 90, reports the New York Times. Patterson's daughter Megan Lee said that the cause of death was complications surrounding a broken hip.
Ms Patterson had already become a veteran of Broadway when she was cast alongside Cary Grant in the 1957 romance 'An Affair to Remember. The movie, which has spawned a number of contemporary remakes, was recently voted number 5 in a list of 'America's Greatest Love Stories' by the American Film Institute. Patterson's performance as 'Helen Sherman' in the 1952 play 'The Seven Year Itch' gained universal acclaim, and the role was later played by Evelyn Keyes in the well-known movie adaptation, which also starred Marilyn Monroe.
Later in her career, the actress took on a number of diverse roles, particularly in the 1983 sci-fi television series 'V' and in the 1983 comedy movie 'All Of Me', starring Steve Martin. As well as her daughter, Patterson is survived by her son, six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
