New York Post Vs. Scott Pelley
The New York Post's Page Six column has stepped up its feud with CBS Evening News anchor Scott Pelley. Referring to him as Poison Pelley, the column, citing an unnamed source, claimed that the anchor is seeking to have exec producer Patricia Shevlin replaced by someone who can lift the newscast out of third place in the ratings. Earlier this month Pelley objected to an item that appeared in the column claiming that Pelley blew his stack when he learned that colleague John Miller appeared first on CBS This Morning to talk about the recent State Department sex scandal instead of on Pelley's newscast. When the Post contacted Pelley about the item, the anchor vehemently denied the story, then laid in to the reporter. How long have you been a journalist? he asked. You wouldn't last 10 seconds at CBS News. This is not how reporters do their job. Contacted by reports about the friction between the anchor and the exec producer, a CBS spokesperson said, That's ridiculous -- another day, another silly rumor about the fastest-growing evening newscast on broadcast TV.
