Veteran crooner WAYNE NEWTON has hinted he will bow out of showbusiness once his Las Vegas residency comes to an end, so he can spend more time with his family.
The singer, nicknamed Mr. Las Vegas after his four decade-long career in Sin City, opened his new show Once Before I Go on Wednesday (28Oct09) at the Tropicana hotel and casino.
The performance is scheduled to run through until next year (10), and Newton, who welcomed a baby girl in 2002, admits he is considering stepping away from the limelight when the show wraps.
He tells the Associated Press, "I'm enjoying my second daughter in a way that I didn't get a chance to do the first time around.
"The decision that I make, whether or not to perform or retire, will pretty much be based on that."
But the star, 67, insists he's yet to fully make up his mind: "If I still feel like I have something to give when this particular show is over, then I'll make the decision to probably curtail work a little bit but not give it up totally. If I don't feel that way at the end of this, then I'll probably hang it up."
Newton also has another daughter, who he adopted during his marriage to Elaine Okamura between 1968 and 1985.
