Rapper/actor Nick Cannon has a deeply personal reason for supporting a hunger relief campaign as his own family relied on food banks during his tough childhood.
The new dad, who welcomed twins with wife Mariah Carey last month (Apr11), is backing the Stamp Out Hunger drive encouraging Americans to donate food to the less fortunate on 14 May (11).
Cannon admits the cause is dear to him due to his own impoverished upbringing.
He says, "My family turned to food pantries for assistance from time to time when I was growing up, so I know first-hand how important this food drive is.
"With more than 50 million Americans living at risk of hunger, please join me and millions of other generous Americans on Saturday, May 14 by placing a non-perishable food donation next to your mailbox to help the National Association of Letter Carriers Stamp Out Hunger."
