Nicki Minaj rocketed to the top of the Billboard album chart on Wednesday (April 11, 2012), with her second full-length studio album, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded. She took the Billboard 200 crown from her recent collaborator, Madonna, whose Mdna album suffered an embarrassing decline in sales this week.
Despite receiving mixed reviews from critics, Reuters reports that Nicki Minaj's album sold 253,000 copies in its opening week. Many found that the 21 track album lacked focus and direction, but nonetheless, the rapper, who has transformed herself from a street MC to a Barbie-doll rapping pop star with apparent ease, has managed to win over the public on a pretty impressive scale. Madonna's 12th studio album, Mdna saw a staggering sales drop of 86.7 per cent selling just 48,000 copies in its second week. It fell from number one to number eight on this week's chart. Prior to this, the biggest second-week sales slump in history was Lady GaGa's Born This Way, which experienced an 84 per cent decline from first week sales of 1.1 million.<Adele record="" breaking="" second="" album="" returned="" to="" number="" two="" on="" the="" billboard="" chart="" selling="" an="" impressive="" copies="" in="" its="" week="" sale="" u.s.="" young="" british="" artist="" has="" sold="" over="" million="" of="" u.s="" alone.="" three="" slot="" went="" country="" music="" duo="" rascal="" flatts="" whose="" changed="" copies.="" nicki="" minaj="" will="" be="" touring="" across="" globe="" support="" pink="" friday:="" roman="" reloaded="" which="" no="" doubt="" boost="" sales="" further.="">
