Nicole Kidman's husband Keith Urban hasn't given her any judging tips before her stint on the Cannes Film Festival jury.

The 45-year-old actress is part of the star-studded panel - which is headed by Steven Spielberg - but admits she's been thrown in at the deep end with her new role because her 45-year-old spouse hasn't offered up his words of wisdom from his experience as an 'American Idol' judge.

Speaking at a press conference - which introduced the jury - Nicole said: ''He's [Keith] not given me any advice.''

Nicole - who has married the country singer in 2006 - says her husband will be jetting out to France today (16.05.13) to provide her with some moral support as she views the entered films, and she finds it amusing they are both judges.

She said: ''It's strange we're back-to-back doing this. But at the same time, we both love what we do and we're huge fans of what we do. That's something that's encouraged me.''

The 'To Die For' star has been asked several times to be part of different judging panels and although she has always resisted she felt the time was right to decide the winners at this year's festival, including the recipient of the prestigious Palme d'Or for best film.

Nicole told reporters: ''I've been asked a number of times to be on different juries and it just so happened I had the time and the passion right now for really sitting down and absorbing the films.''
