Roger Daltrey - Noel Gallagher Takes Over 2013 Cancer Charity Gigs
The Who star is a big supporter of The Teenage Cancer Trust and organises a series of fundraising concerts every year in aid of the organisation.
He has been personally curating the event since setting it up in 2000 and has attracted big-name stars including Rolling Stones rocker Ronnie Wood, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, and Florence + the MAChine to perform on the bill.
The Tommy singer is due to be on tour when next year's (13) event takes place, so he has asked former Oasis guitarist Gallagher - who performed at the fundraising gigs in 2010 - to organise the line-up.
Daltrey tells Britain's NME magazine, "I'm not doing it next year because I'm on tour and Noel Gallagher has kindly offered to step in. So he's putting the bill together. Obviously I'm in the background and I'm not going away. I'll put feelers out but he kindly offered and I accepted.
"I'm on the road all the way through to the beginning of March. So it really helped me out. Instead of being on the beach on my vacation in January on the bl**dy cell phone for eight hours a day, I can actually get some sleep."
