Oasis Awarded Brit Honour
OASIS' huge contribution to British music is to be recognised with a special achievement gong at next year's (07) Brit Awards. The WONDERWALL rockers, who release their greatest hits album STOP THE CLOCKS next month (20NOV06), will pick up the Outstanding Contribution To Music Award at the London ceremony in February (07). They join a glittering list of previous winners including THE BEATLES, U2, PAUL WELLER, TOM JONES, STING, DAVID BOWIE, FLEETWOOD MAC, EURYTHMICS and THE WHO. British Phonographic Industry (BPI) Chairman PETER JAMIESON says, "Oasis set the standard for many of the young rock bands who are currently enjoying success in the UK charts. "As the Brit Awards goes live for the first time in nearly two decades, it is appropriate that we should honour one of the most exciting live acts the UK has produced." Other nominations for the 27th Brit Awards will be unveiled in London on 16 January (07).
