It didn't take Keith Olbermann long to file his threatened lawsuit again Current TV and its owners who fired him. Exactly one week after the channel severed its ties to Olbermann, with whom it had a 5-year, $50-million deal, Olbermann filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court charging that he had been forced to endure "logistical nightmares, technical failures, and media disasters." Referring to an instance in which The Lights went out during one of his Countdown programs, Olbermann said in the lawsuit, "After being on the air for nearly eight months -- long after all 'growing pains' should have ceased -- Current still couldn't manage to, literally, keep the lights on." He then presented a laundry list of the channel's technical foul-ups and quoted from an email he had received from Current President David Bohrman, in which Bohrman said of the studio facilities, "We are paying for a Porsche and getting a Yugo." Finally, he concluded that he "thought he had made a deal with a legitimate network and instead got an unprofessional cable-access show." Current responded in a statement saying, "Mr. Olbermann, by filing his false and malicious lawsuit, has now put this matter into a legal process where there will be an objective review of the facts." It accused Olbermann of "material breaches of his contract, including the failure to show up at work, sabotaging the network and attacking Current and its executives." And in a final dig, it commented, "We Hope Mr. Olbermann understands that when it comes to the legal process, he is actually required to show up."
