Olivia Wilde will not take over from Angelina Jolie as 'Lara Croft' for a new 'Tomb Raider' movie, according to her rep.
OLIVIA WILDE, the American actress and star of 'Tron: Legacy', will not play' Lara Croft' in a forthcoming 'Tomb Raider' reboot, according to her rep who spoke with OnTheRedCarpet.com.Wilde has been widely tipped to play the action hero, who was portrayed by Jolie in 2001's 'Lara Croft: Tomb Raider' and then in the sequel 'Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life'. Rumours began to circulate on Wednesday (16th February 2011) that the actress had signed on to play the action hero, who is now recognised by the Guinness World Records as being "most recognised female video game character", however, her representative denied the speculation. Croft first appeared as a protagonist in the 1996 smash-hit video game 'Tomb Raider', which was followed by a number of successful sequels. The video-game franchise has sold over 35 million units worldwide.
Wilde's next project is starring alongside Hugh Jackman in the comedy movie 'Butter' and she recently finished work on the summer action movie 'Cowboys & Aliens', starring Harrison Ford and DANIEL CRAIG.
