Elvis Presley - Once-famous Star Hang-out The Sahara To Close
The Sahara hotel & casino - Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra's one-time favourite haunt in Las Vegas - is to close after 59 years.
The fabled hang-out of the rich and famous will shut its doors in May (11).
The hotel-casino was flooded with guests in 2007 and 2008 after a takeover by club boss Sam Nazarian put the venue back in the headlines, but the recession wiped out the once star-studded resort's good fortunes and the owner has been forced to shut down.
As well as hosting shows for Elvis and boasting the Beatles and Sinatra as guests, the Sahara also featured prominently in the crooner's cult movie Ocean's Eleven.
