Boy band One Direction have made history in the U.S. by becoming the first British group to debut at number one on the Billboard 200 album chart.
The group's first record Up All Night has crashed in at the top with opening week sales of 176,000.
The Spice Girls previously hit number one with their 1996 debut Spice but it took them 14 weeks to get there.
Ironically, One Direction's single What Makes You Beautiful was placed at number 28 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart last month (Feb12) and became the highest entry for a British group's debut single since the Spice Girls' Wannabe in 1997.
The official Billboard 200 countdown will be released on Wednesday (21Mar12).
