Madame Tussauds London unveiled its new One Direction wax figures to fans today (18.04.13)
The figurines took four months of hard work to create, but the lucky fans who were the first to see them were blown away by the life like qualities of the models.
Ruby Yeoman, an excitable fan who witnessed the event, said: ''We know what they look like so well, we are really tough judges and they're perfect. This is the closest that I will ever get to kissing Harry Styles.''
Each band member gave two sittings so the Madame Tussauds team could take hundreds of precise measurements, examine their skin tones, eye colours and hair - which was also double checked by personal hair stylist Louise Teasdale - to ensure they were totally accurate.
A team of 40 people, including sculptors, moulders, hair stylists, colourists and wardrobe experts worked flat out for four months to create the figures which each cost £150,000 to make.
The figures each wear colour co-ordinated outfits donated by the guys and are positioned casually sitting on a school bench, so that excited fans can sit alongside them.
The likenesses will only be at the London attraction for 12 weeks before jetting off on tour to Madame Tussauds New York and Sydney.
Spokeswoman Nicole Fenner said: ''We are delighted to be the first venue on One Direction's Madame Tussauds World Tour, and by the reaction of the fans today and the boys this week, it's going to be a huge success.''
Extra tour dates will be announced in the near future.
