Friends and family of late rock pioneer Roy Orbison took to the streets of Los Angeles on Friday (29Jan10) to unveil the music legend's star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Orbison’s widow Barbara and his three sons attended the ceremony which marked the placing of the 2,400th landmark on the famed strip at the base of the Capitol Records tower.
The rocker's most famous track, Oh, Pretty Woman, was played as stars including Eagles guitarist Joe Walsh, comedian Eric Idle, filmmaker David Lynch and singer Chris Isaak gathered to honour Orbison's memory.
Actor Dan Aykroyd made a speech at the event, describing Orbison - who died in 1988 - as his childhood hero.
He told the crowd, "Since (seeing Orbison perform in my youth) I've worn nothing but black. And I can wear sunglasses anytime I want because Roy did.”
Barbara Orbison thanked her late husband's pals for turning out for the ceremony, adding: “All of these guys have just a little bit of Roy's heart in their hearts. In them, I still see Roy.”
