Oscar Tipped 'The Master' Reveals New Poster Ahead Of September Release
A film that's attracted much attention but has thus far managed to keep its cards close to its chest, 'The Master' by Paul Thomas Anderson is starting to reveal more and more about itself as anticipation for its release builds. Though there is nothing explicit, it appears that Anderson's film surrounds a cult religion, with a small group being the main protagonists of any information given away so far, with seemingly similarly eccentric views.
The Hollywood Reporter has now written that artwork for the film has been made available by distribution company The Weinstein Company. The poster is in a blue shade and shows repeated images of the film's stars in character. That list includes Philip Seymour Hoffman (who plays an L. Ron Hubbard-like figure according to the industry magazine), Amy Adams (who plays his wife) and Joaquin Phoenix (who plays his young student).
It's remarkable that so little has been given away regarding the film, given that the release date for it is coming up ever more quickly. Perhaps those in charge know that they may have something potentially controversial on their hands. The release date for the Oscar tipped movie has been moved up to September 14, 2012, bumping Brad Pitt's 'Killing Them Softly' back to October in the process.
