Teenage education activist Malala Yousafzai has been given a 16th birthday gift from Oscar-winning documentarian Davis Guggenheim - he has signed on to make a film about the brave girl's life.
Yousafzai, who was nominated for the international Children's Peace Prize in December, 2011, became an international icon after she was shot by Taliban gunmen, who opposed her campaigning for equal rights education in her native Pakistan, in October (12), and she has been saluted by superstars Beyonce and Angelina Jolie.
Now Hollywood is set to see her story - Guggenheim is working on a documentary.
Yousafzai celebrated her 16th birthday in New York last week (12Jul13) when she spoke at the United Nations Youth Assembly.
The teenager, who is the youngest person to be nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize, is also penning a new memoir, titled I am Malala. It is scheduled to hit shelves later this year (13).
