Australian actor Paul Hogan has conceded he may lose his fight for compensation from tax officials following a five-year investigation into his finances, but insists he is determined to stand up to the "arrogant bullies".
The Crocodile Dundee star was subjected to a long-running probe after he was accused of using offshore bank accounts to conceal his earnings, but the criminal inquiry into his financial dealings was dropped in November (10).
He subsequently accused bosses at the Australian Tax Office (Ato) of ruining his reputation and costing him work, and instructed his legal team to fight for compensation.
Hogan now admits he has little chance of winning the legal dispute, but he is refusing to drop his complaint.
He tells Australia's Channel Nine, "I have picked a great enemy. I might as well have picked the Taliban (Islamist militia group which ruled Afghanistan) to take on as there's very few people who are up there supporting them.
"I've had several high-ranking legal authorities say to me 'Don't keep insulting them, don't keep prodding them, you know, you're just making it worse'.
"These are arrogant bullies. They're used to making people roll over. I'm not going to roll over, I may lose but I'm taking some of them with me. The (Ato has) declared me a criminal all around the world. It's over, I used to be Hoges the funny man or Crocodile Dundee.
"But now I'm the tax man. Google it, they've turned me into the tax man and that never goes away."
