Paula Abdul - Paula Abdul Talks Simon Cowell On Ellen Degeneres Show
Paula Abdul, the American singer-songwriter and current host of the new reality talent contest 'Live to Dance' has spoken about her time on American Idol during a candid interview with Ellen Degeneres, reports Entertainment Weekly. The 48-year-old famously quit the show in 2009, sparking rumours of a rift between herself and Simon Cowell.
Degeneres asked Abdul about her love/hate relationship with the music mogul, to which she replied, "I always like making Simon cry. He's like fungus, in the sense that he just sticks around for a long time, and then finally you just surrender to it", the host then asked her, "You surrender to fungus?" to which Paula quickly retorted, "Yeah!" The tenth season of AMERICAN IDOL is slated to premiere on 19th January 2011 with Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler joining as new judges. Degeneres noted that 'Idol' is set to move to a new slot which will see it in direct competition with Abdul's 'Live to Dance', however, the singer seemed unconcerned, saying, "Oh, well. Two shows, different genres..I always say thank god for DVRs!".
The dance show, which is based on the UK version 'Got to Dance', sees Abdul joined by choreographer TRAVIS PAYNE and Pussycat Dolls star Kimberly Wyatt on the judging panel. The winner of the competition will be presented with a cheque for $500,000.
