Pee Wee Herman - Pee-wee Herman Makes Guest Judge Appearance On 'Top Chef: Texas'
Pee-Wee Herman was a guest judge on 'Top Chef: Texas' as the ninth season of the American reality competition headed towards its final stages, following its debut back in November of last year when a whopping 29 contestants were in with a chance of winning - more starting entrants than in any previous season of 'Top Chef.'
Now with just four entrants remaining following the culmination of last night's show, on February 1st, the contest's really hotting up - though Herman didn't set the would-be Top Chefs anything too outrageous initially. CBS reports that, arriving with his trademark childish charm and red Schwinn bike intact, the 80s comic character - played by Paul Reubens - set the chefs an initial challenge of cooking up his favourite breakfast food, a wholesome but somewhat less than tricky meal of pancakes. Stating "I love pancakes, but I'm not gonna marry them!" Herman didn't prove to be too tough a judge either, exclaiming that each dish he was presented with were the best pancakes he'd ever tasted, ultimately deciding that Ed's were the best.
Next, Herman sent the chefs off to the Alamo where they shopped for food and searched for restaurants that would let them cook for a family meal of four before arriving back at the Alamo in three hours. This task was a little tougher admittedly, but all the contestants made it back in time, with Lindsay taking the win and Grayson ultimately being eliminated. A bit of a bizarre choice of guest judge on 'Top Chef,' then, but then that's always been Herman's way - the comic character coming to prominence through the 80s with his wild and wacky antics on shows such as 'The Pee-Wee Herman Show,' 'Pee-Wee's Big Adventure' and 'Pee-Wee's Playhouse.'
