Katy Perry's pastor parents have accepted her wildman boyfriend Russell Brand - insisting the recovering drug addict is a reformed character.
The pop star has been dating the controversial comedian since September (09) and she recently introduced him to her parents, both Christian preachers.
Perry's dad Keith Hudson presented Brand with a copy of his book The Cry, about accepting God, while the Brit handed over a copy of his autobiography My Booky Wook, which details his struggle with drug and sex addiction.
Brand was even photographed with his arm around Keith's shoulders on Saturday (28Nov09) when the trio enjoyed lunch at a restaurant in Ischgl in the Austrian Alps, where they are currently on holiday.
And Keith is hoping he can teach Brand about Christianity as they spend more time together.
Keith says, "We all have a past. I was in the Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin era, and I used to take LSD. Russell's really got a hunger for the supernatural. He's got a real spiritual hunger. Russell really likes us because he has a whole new different concept on Christianity now that he has met us."
And his wife, Mary, believes it's not too late for the recovering addict to find salvation with Perry.
She adds, "You just have to see how the Lord's will is done. I mean, how many times have your kids disappointed you so profoundly that you wanted to get up from the chair and knock them out? There are parts of Russell's book where he's really hungry for positive influences in his life. I think the two of them are hungry. They are basically looking for God and they are seeking the truth - and they're going to find it.
"Russell must go towards the light and not towards the darkness."
